Since qualifying in Bar Management at the Bar School of Hospitality and Tourism in Portugal and starting out tending bar in 1998, Humberto has progressed to a finer and subtler understanding of cocktail preparation. As he says, “ A Bartender is someone who works behind a bar and simply gets you a drink; A Mixologist is someone who assumes the craft of mixing cocktails to perfection”.

A combination of various Skills is required to create your favourite cocktail; an understanding of the pallet, a knowledge of the vast range of tastes in everything from Vodka to Rum, whiskey to cognac, spices and herbs, and the ability to merge these strains of taste into a specific drink for a single person. That person is you, at your next private function.

Having created his own unique recipes, Humberto won a Golden Award for anCnoc Whisky in the “Drinks International Cocktail Competition” with his Nutty-Dhu Cocktail in 2006; at this time he was the Brand Ambassador/Mixologist for Acnoc whisky.

Humberto Marques worked throughout Portugal, South of France and in 2003 became Bartender at Gleneagles Hotel, before moving on the renowned Oloroso Bar and Restaurant.

 Humberto has moved to private functions as a way to more intimately bring his cocktails to the customer, including birthdays, anniversaries parties in people’s own homes, wedding receptions, office parties, promotional events.

And more recently Humberto joined Global Brands as Brands Ambassador in Edinburgh, so he is representing some premium spirits such as Ypioca cachaca, Myers Rum, Danzka Vodka, sobieski Vodka and Goldschlager.
